Preparing your business for GDPR

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News , Creative News, Outdoor News

UK SMEs have spent an average of 80 days preparing for GDPR, but many are still yet to make plan.

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on 25th May 2018. Before this date you need to ensure your data handling procedures are compliant.

According to a survey of 500 SME owners commissioned by The Data Compliance Doctors and conducted by Atomik Research, 61% of UK SMEs are in the midst of planning for GDPR, but equivalent to 2.1m small businesses are yet to start a plan.

But, with six months to go, it's not too late to get your business ready for the changes in May.

Organisations that monitor, store or analyse data will face more onerous obligations to comply, so it is essential to act now as failure to do so could attract significant fines.

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) introduces tougher fines for non-compliance and breaches, and gives people more say over what companies can do with their data. It also makes data protection rules more or less identical throughout the EU.
