Bike shops and repairers advised to prepare for second wave of Fix Your Bike Vouchers

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

The second batch of bike repair vouchers, worth £50 each, are expected to be released to the public soon.

In preparation for the second release the DfT and EST have asked the ACT circulate the scheme's Terms and Conditions so that repairers who are registered can re-familiarise themselves.

More about the scheme

The scheme was first announced back in June with the aim of encouraging thousands of people get back into cycling.

The Government initially pledged to spend £25 million, releasing 500,000 vouchers as part of the '£2bn cycling and walking revolution' which involves thousands of miles of new protected bike lanes, cycle training for everyone and bikes available on prescription.

The vouchers are being released in batches in order to help manage capacity across participating bike shops and repair centres.

Eligibility

The scheme is open to anyone in England who has an unused cycle in need of a repair.

Customers are advised to consider the needs of others before applying for a voucher and to not delay making planned repairs outside of the scheme should circumstances allow it.

Vouchers can only be used with bike repairers or mechanics that are registered for the scheme in England.

Register now

It's not too late to register.

As the sector is still reportedly facing a shortage of stock and as the darker weather draws upon us, repairing old bikes is a great way to maintain revenue and encourage cycling.
