Fastest Wrench draws record participation!

Posted on in Cycles News

The London Bike Show 2014 saw the highly anticipated return of Cytech's Fastest Wrench competition, and had an influx of both trade and public entrants across the three day show.

The Cytech Fastest Wrench competition has always proved a popular attraction at the London Bike Show, and 2014 was no different. With 35% more competition entrants than 2013, 2014 was a record year for participation and was also a record breaking year in that it was the first year ever that a member of the trade was pipped at the post by a public visitor!

Over the course of the four day show, over 200 participants from both the trade and public gave it their all to try and change an inner tube faster than their peers. Times ranged from just 51 seconds to over 13 minutes, and participants were just as diverse; from professional mechanics of 20+ years to Girl Scouts giving it their first try and even an Army bomb disposal robot!

The fastest wrench overall was Adam Gajecki, a lightning fast ex-mechanic displaying incredible skills and sheer determination. Last year's runner up, Cedric Crooks, again took second place with the incredible time of only 57 seconds! Maybe next year, eh, Cedric?

The Fastest ever time recorded by a Fastest Wrench entrant still remains at an impressive 44.62 seconds, but with this years winner clocking up just a few seconds more it's looking likely that this record won't be around for too much longer!

There were even more prizes on offer this year for the most impressive competitors - from Telegraph subscriptions to an iON Adventure Pro! The fastest eight competitors from both the trade and public will be contacted individually to offer our congratulations and arrange delivery of the prizes. The top 3 who made it onto our trade and public Leaderboard can be seen below - did you make it to the top this year?

Thanks to everyone who took part in the competition. If you missed us at the show, start practising now in time for next year and you could be the new champion!

All the photos from the show can be seen over on the Cytech facebook page
