Job Description

Part Time Customer Advisor required to work Saturdays in our City-Centre based Bike shop. Ideally candidates would be able to help cover other shifts on an ad-hoc basis.

On Your Bike is one of the largest independent Cycle stores in the UK and has retained its family business culture.

We are looking for someone who is confident, charming and organised and above all wants to work in a busy and challenging environment. Above all you must be passionate about bikes.

Potential candidates must have excellent communication skills, should be familiar with customer service strategies and know how to deal effectively with customers on the telephone, in writing and face to face.

Duties include:

  • Greet customers and ascertain their requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment, exchange and refund, and security practices.
  • Receive and process cash or credit payment on Point of Sale System.
  • Adhere to cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records related to sales.
  • Recommend, select and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.
  • Describe merchandise and explain use, operation and care of merchandise to customers.
  • Watch for and recognise security risks and thefts, and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
  • Ticket, arrange and display merchandise to promote sales.
  • Assist in replenishing product stock, display merchandise and pricing labels.
  • Be presentable by wearing the company issued uniform at all times.
  • Participate in the general housekeeping duties and rota.
  • Provide excellent customer service at all times.
  • Ensure integrity through compliance of procedures and policies.
  • Answer telephone enquiries.
  • Keep Duty Manager up to date with any potential issues or opportunities.
  • Adhere to security policies and procedures.
  • Maintain standards in accordance with overall company policy.

Skills/Experience Required

You will have an interest in cycling and able to demonstrate good communication skills.

Previous experience in a customer service role or knowledge of cycling is preferred but not essential.
