'Election Centre' launched in the Countdown to the General Election

Posted on in Business News , Political News

As the UK counts down to the General Election on 7th May, retailers need to be kept informed of the announcements that matter to small businesses.

In order to empower and inform all independent retailers in the lead up to the election, ActSmart will be sharing relevant news and updates - available via our ‘Election Centre'.

The ActSmart Election Centre is powered by ACS; an established, credible and influential voice for the local shop sector in Government, and will provide information about how the major parties line up on key issues, political announcements and feedback from retailers on how they're planning to vote.

ActSmart work alongside ACS and fourteen other membership organisations to form the Independent Retailers Confederation which provides a platform to increase the profile and voice of independent retailing within Government and Parliament.

In the run up to the election, ACS is also encouraging retailers to get in touch with their store's local MP or Prospective Parliamentary Candidate (PPC) and invite them to visit their store. The visit will help retailers begin to build a lasting relationship with their store's MP and provide a platform to show them just how important small businesses are to the local community.

ACS Chief Executive James Lowman said: "It is now more important than ever for retailers to engage with their store's local MP to show them how crucial local shops are within their constituency. We urge all independent retailers to get in touch with their MP and arrange a visit to show them the positive work they are doing in store".

Take a look at all the latest updates on our Political news and keep an eye out for more Election Centre updates over the coming weeks.

As well as election updates, ActSmart subscribers can stay in the know all year round by accessing our monthly Political Updates - available to download for free form the Business Support section.
