Stitchlinks to open Knit Fit! Seattle
Posted on in Creative News
The fourth annual Knit Fit! - Seattle's indie knitting festival - returns in November 2015. Stitchlinks' Betsan Corkhill will be opening the show with a presentation on knitting for health and wellness.
Knit Fit! is Seattle's own independent knitting festival. Knit Fit! offers a weekend full of classes taught by independent designers, a fiber market with a focus on independent, regional craftspeople, fun and informative evening events, and prizes!
The aim of Knit Fit! is to contribute to building the local knitting community by connecting great designers and teachers with students, providing a venue for indie crafters and fiber lovers to meet, and being a place where knitters of any skill level can feel comfortable advancing their craft and making new connections.
The opening night of the show, Friday, November 13 will see Betsan Corkhill take to the stage to present her ideas on knitting for health and wellness, followed by a book signing.
Knit for Health and Wellness will take a look at the ‘why' and ‘how' knitting is so good for you.
Knitters around the world know that knitting makes them feel good. This talk looks at the science behind these claims and shows you how you can use this knowledge to use knitting as an effective, portable tool to deliberately improve your wellbeing, help you to manage change, life's inevitable problems, stress and even medical conditions.
Whether you are interested in your own general health or helping others to improve theirs, this talk will enable you to build on the benefits of knitting to live a happier, more fulfilled life.
