Thttp://www.thecyclingexperts.co.uk/uploaded_images/tour-of-britain/e4ec1ebc7e6720aeb970ae54a54a83f9.pnghe 2014 Tour of Britain starts on Sunday 7 September in Liverpool and finishes in London a week later on 14 September - is your shop part of the route?

The Tour of Britain is the UK's biggest professional cycle race and the country's largest free-to-spectate sporting event.

This year's event takes place from Sunday 7th to Sunday 14th September, including nine stages over eight days of action packed racing.

From the Grand Depart in Liverpool, via a summit finish on The Tumble in south Wales and first visits to Bristol and Brighton, the Friends Life Tour of Britain will conclude with a spectacular final day in central London, featuring both a time trial and circuit race
Stages.

The first stage will be a 130km circuit race around Liverpool's city centre. This promises to be an exhilarating start to the Tour, with excellent opportunities for spectators to catch a glimpse of some of the world's fastest riders.

Stage two brings the race across borders from Knowsley near Liverpool into North Wales where it finishes in Llandudno.

Stage three remains in Wales and will feature a spectacular summit finish on The Tumble, before the race moves back to England for Worcester to Bristol in stage four.

From here the race moves towards Devon for a hilly stage five between Exmouth and Exeter, visiting Dartmouth where it will take in the key climb of Haytor, as it did last year, providing fantastic opportunities for a breakaway.

Bath to Hemel Hempstead spans the country in stage six, before the Tour makes its first visit to Brighton in what is also the longest stage in the modern race's history, between Camberly and Brighton at 220km for stage seven.

The final two stages will take place on Sunday 14th September, in London's City centre. Stage 8a is a time trial running along the iconic River Thames, before a stage 8b follows the same route, this time in a circuit.

Ordnance Survey and Tour organiser SweetSpot are releasing the route maps to retail.

The new route maps are available in a range of formats, allowing cyclists to try out the routes or spectators to pick the best spot to watch. With the Tour bringing a huge number of potential new customers to the areas of each stage, bike shops should make the most of the opportunity.
