ACT launch new 'Guide to e-bikes' for cycle dealers

Posted on in Cycles News

The ACT have launched a new ‘Guide to e-bikes' online library to help cycle dealers become more aware of all the issues surrounding both selling and servicing e-bikes.

New technology and better designed models, combined with the consumer's growing awareness of the health and environmental benefits has helped to fuel the e-bike boom and the UK cycle trade is embracing it. The likes of Halfords and Evans are increasing their range of models and even launching their own brands, whilst a Bike Biz poll conducted at the end of 2017 revealed that a massive 81% of cycle dealers expect e-bikes to be responsible for the largest increase in sales this year.

With e-bikes there's a huge opportunity for cycle shops to sell to a whole new type of customer - people of all ages and abilities who may not necessarily consider themselves cyclists. But in order to capitalise on this growing market there are regulations, legislations and standards to adhere to, as well as the need to adopt different selling techniques and technical skills.

To ensure retailers have access to all this information the ACT has created a brand new online library. The ‘Guide to e-bikes' contains information on the different types of e-bikes available, the regulations and legislation surrounding them, guidance on selling them, and best practices for servicing and repairing them.

The guide has been created with help from industry experts including leading e-bike suppliers, specialist IBD's and e-bike technicians.

This is designed to be the go-to area for all your e-bike needs. You can access it at any time via the ACT website. We will aim to keep this section updated as frequently as necessary but if the section is missing something that you'd like to know, or you have any suggestions for additional information that may be useful for retailers get in touch and tell us.
