Job Description

Metal Clay Ltd has been running since 2004 and has grown to become one of the largest metal clay suppliers in Europe. We have a huge range of jewellery making tools, materials, and equipment. In 2018 we launched a second brand and website, House of Resin, stocking a wide range of resins and products for wood and pen turners as well as furniture makers. We’re passionate about offering a top-quality service, as well as products. 99% of our orders are placed on our website. Ensuring we have the stock our customers are ordering, and getting their orders picked and despatched daily is the most important aspect of our business.

We’re still a small family owned company, and are now looking for a full time Order Picker & Stockroom Assistant for immediate start. You will be the one person ensuring all orders are processed and picked every day, ready for the Order Packer to complete them. Around this you will keep the stock room clean and safe, organised, topped-up, and ensure stock levels are accurate, working closely with, and reporting to, our Stock & Buyer Manager.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within a stockroom/warehouse role. You must have excellent time management skills and you will need to be able to multi-task and work under pressure to meet daily dispatch targets. 

We’re not a huge warehouse with forklifts and trucks and you won’t need a high-vis vest, but we have a busy and growing stock room. We have over 3,500 SKUs ranging from teeny tiny little things, to items on pallets and some in large and heavy boxes. As it is a very varied range of products, attention to detail and wanting to bring the best of your abilities to every work day is needed.

We’re a small friendly team, you will be an absolutely vital cog of our little work-machine, where everyone needs to do their part. All employees need to be flexible and open to tasks outside their job roll at all times.

WORKING HOURS

Monday - Friday 8.00-16.30

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Oversee orders from printing, checking, picking so they’re ready for pack and despatch, to shipping and filing at the end of the day
  • Checking in deliveries, putting away stock into relevant bin locations and overflows
  • Topping up pick-bins and keeping overflow stock organised
  • Keeping the stock room tidy and ensuring it is a safe environment
  • Weekly rotational stock takes and daily inventory checks, flagging low-stock/out of stock items
  • Re-pack, bag/decanter, and label goods for sale
  • Checking in goods returned after shows and events

 

Skills/Experience Required

WHO IS THIS FOR?

  • You have picking, stock room, or warehouse experience.
  • You’re speedy and efficient, but careful and take pride in doing your job to a high standard. 
  • Sitting at a desk all day in front of a screen is not for you, this is a job where you'll be on your feet. It’s mainly a standing job, and you’ll move around a lot, sometimes across two floors. 
  • It can be physically demanding, as sometimes you’ll need to lift and manoeuvre heavy boxes, some weighing around 20-25kg.
  • You have good reading skills, paying attention to small details on orders, picking them accurately.
  • You’ve got good numeracy and maths skills, and are able to stay focused counting 65 miniature sized products without losing track - even if the phone is ringing and people are coming and going around you.
  • You need to be comfortable using computers for printing and updating orders. You will get training on the specific systems we use, but at a minimum you need to be able to use the basics of a spreadsheet software like Excel/Google Sheets/Numbers comfortably.
  • You must be punctual and able to work under pressure at a fast and focused pace. If your start time is 8am you’ll be expected to be settled and ready to start working at 8am. 
  • You must have a friendly positive manner - even on a Monday morning.

We’re a small company, and a close team who need to be able to rely on each other. You’ll be expected to chip in and help out as and when needed as seen necessary in other parts of the company.
