Job Description

Brief overview

Bike Builder & Cycle Technician. Building bikes, servicing and repairing them. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work with fully trained technicians and obtain CYTECH qualifications.

What will the apprentice be doing?

The role will be a fast paced introduction to the bike trade with a focus on becoming a professional bike mechanic. This will include all elements of the bike retail environment & a full introduction to the dynamics of bicycle retail in order to become a full member of this growing businesses team.

You must have a passion for bikes, be personable, fast moving & intelligent. Some elements of the work are straightforward and others highly technical. Customer liason & sales skills will be developed

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training is primarily on the job, here in our Stockport/Manchester workshop, however you will be sent to Stafford for 2 weeks training on site training at ATG in the middle of the course.

EAL Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Engineering Maintenance & Installation - Cycles pathway 

EAL Level 2 Certificate in Cycle Maintenance

ACT Cytech technical two

Functional Skills in Maths, English & IT if applicable

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Based on the growth of the business and your success thus far, we see two main possible routes forward on the successful completion of this apprenticeship. 

1)      Movement onto launching a branded satellite operation in another northern English city.

2)    Specialisation in bike maintenance and repair escalation to pro bike mechanic status working in our current sphere -  South MCR/Stockport/East Cheshire.

We are an independent rider-owned business with two growing prongs. A mobile bike repair service for Greater Manchester centred on Stockport & fast growing ebay bike part shop under a separate brand. We have some pioneering concepts & are looking to grow an apprentice within the business as we bring together the two discrete parts, strengthening both our offer as a local workshop & as a national retailer.
