ATG doubles Cytech training space with move to Oxford

Posted on in Cycles News

Cytech training provider ATG Training is moving to a new, purpose built workshop in Oxford in May 2018.

ATG will be moving from their current Aylesbury base to the home of their parent company Activate Learning at Blackbird Leys in Oxford on May 14.

Julian Thrasher, Cytech master technicianTo mark the opening ATG will be running a special Opening Offer Promo for commercial courses. There will be a 20% discount for ACT members, or 10% for non-members, who book a course at the Oxford workshop during May and June. There will also be a one off special of a 15% discount for those booking both a Cytech technical two and three course during May and June.

The new location allows the cycles team to access the facilities of the £8 million campus which is shared with City of Oxford College and Activate Apprenticeships.

The new site is larger, has better road and rail access and geographically spreads out ATG's workshop sites a little more, being further from both the London and Stafford workshops. In addition the new workshop location means ATG have their own bespoke area as well as access to the campus facilities, including a refectory, showers and hopefully a small test track.

Speaking to CyclingIndustry.news, Jules Thrasher, Cytech trainer and assessor said "the new workshop itself is 25% larger than our old one downstairs and also has a mezzanine floor, practically doubling our available work-space, in the short term we will run with the same capacity as we had at Aylesbury, but once we are established then we can look at the viability of expansion and of running 2 separate and different courses at once, depending of course upon demand and staffing."

Jon Adams, chief executive of ATG Training, said: "ATG Training became part of the Activate Learning group two years ago and since then we have been working to identify how we can best support our employers and learners now and in the future.

"Moving our operations to the Technology Campus provides us with a sustainable future and access to a brand new £8 million facility, including a new, dedicated workshop for the ATG Training cycles team that delivers the industry standard Cytech training for the bike trade.

"The move to a bigger campus also give our learners and staff access to all the benefits of a college campus in a city famed for its cyclists. We will continue to deliver training and assessment across the country from Oxford and our other sites in Stafford and north London."

Places on the Cytech Training Courses can be booked via the ATG Website or by calling the Sales and Recruitment Team on 01296 674995.

Employers looking to use the Apprenticeship scheme - either to recruit a new member of staff or to up-skill existing staff - should also contact the Sales and Recruitment Team who will be able to advise and assist in all aspects of the on-boarding process of an Apprentice, including available funding, additional costs and help with recruitment.
