Creative employment grows three times faster than UK average

According to official data, jobs within DCMS sectors (Digital, Culture, Media & Sport) accounted for 16% of all UK jobs, Newstotalling 5.3 million jobs within the UK in 2018. Employment within the DCMS sectors grew at a faster rate from 2011 to 2018 than the UK as a whole; 13.4% versus 10.1%.

When comparing all jobs within the DCMS sector, the creative industries have seen the largest increase since 2011, with tourism coming in second and digital a close third. The creative industries has had a significant percentage increase of 30.6% since 2011 which is three times the growth rate of employment in the UK overall (10.1%). The highest growing sub-sectors within the creative industry includes "IT, software and computer services", "Music, Performing and Visual Arts" and "Film, TV, Video, Radio and Photography".

Times are looking optimistic for the creative industries as they continue to power the growth of UK employment rates, let's hope that the industry can continue to grow in this positive manner!
