Calling all Cornish e-bike retailers: Take the DfT e-bike survey now!

Posted on in Business News , Cycles News

Thee-bike DfT have asked for the ACT's assistance in gathering data from Cornish retailers to measure how effective Government investment in e-bikes in Cornwall would be.

On 8 June 2021, the Prime Minister announced that the Government would pilot an e-cycle (also referred to as electrically assisted pedal cycles (EAPC) or e-bike) support programme in Cornwall. He did this as part of the G7 Summit announcement, and the full press release can be found here.

The investment in Cornwall will focus on creating greater public awareness of and interest in e-cycles, to encourage their purchase, and to measure how effective Government investment would be on a wider scale. While the details of the programme are still being finalised, one possible element is a purchase incentive for e-cycles, meaning that customers would get money off the full retail price of a new e-cycle in participating stores.

The DfT is currently considering how this element might best work, and is keen to do this in a way which best suit your requirements as a retailer. We would therefore be very grateful for your comments and suggestions on the outline proposal, and would like to invite a representative of your business to complete the survey using the link below.

If you have any issues, questions or accessibility requirements please contact the Department at Walking.Cycling@dft.gov.uk.

The survey closes on 13 August.
