ACT Shop of the Month

Posted on in Cycles News , Polls & Results

Each month the ACT recognises one cycle retailer as the Shop of the month.

http://www.actsmart.biz/uploaded_images/shop-of-the-month/act_sotm.pngThe Shop of the month benefits from appearing on the newly redesigned The Cycling Experts and the Independent Retailers Confederation (IRC) website, accessible by up to 600,000 web visitors a month.

The Cycling Experts benefits from traffic directly from British Cycling, Why Cycle, Bike Hub, Sustrans and Bike Week, which all utilise or link directly to the Experts Business Listings.

To be considered as a future Shop of the Month, make sure your promotional listing is up to date. All cycle retailers have a basic entry with the option of creating their own extended, unique, promotional listing, click here to find out more.

ACT Shop of the Month | August | Cyclesense

http://albumizr.com/ia/f9c12f87343d6c68deb6c3022d73a49c.jpgThe retailer, located on Tadcaster's High Street, was born in 1991 when owner David Stainthorpe, who always aspired to own his own bike shop, started repairing bikes in his garage and trading on Dewsbury Market with just £600 worth of stock.

Cyclesense moved to a small shop in Tadcaster in 1995 but soon outgrew it and moved to its current location in 2001.

Since then, Cyclesense has evolved into a ‘destination retailer', attracting customers from across the north of England due to the quality of service and wide range of bike brands it sells for all cycling disciplines, including road, mountain and especially touring and expedition.

"It only seems like yesterday that we opened our doors, but all these years later we are still here in Tadcaster and going from strength to strength, says David. "We've had tough times along the way, more recently caused by the floods and closure of the bridge, but Tadcaster is our home, customers visit Tadcaster because of us, and we want to carry on bringing business to the area for another 25 years and beyond!"

Cyclesense is the main dealer in the UK for premium Dutch manufacturer Koga, and the UK distributor for Extrawheel trailers and FollowMe, a unique parent-child tow-bar device which converts a child's bike into a tandem. It also stocks leading brands such as Giant, Van Nicholas and Cannondale.

The kids store, located just around the corner on Westgate, is one of the UK's only lightweight kids' bike dedicated stores, and stocks a wide range of bikes of all sizes for children including brands such as Frog, Dawes and Micro Scooters. "I believe our success can be put down to the simple fact that we can cater for every type of cyclist, from serious competitors to more leisurely riders who see cycling as a way of spending time with the family," adds David.

"Buying a new bike is a significant investment. At Cyclesense, our two showrooms provide an unrivalled choice for cyclists of all ages and abilities. Customers can try and test bikes of all price ranges from different manufacturers and we back this up with friendly service by staff that live and breathe cycling."
