Ride to Work Week 2020: Bikes, bikes, bikes!

Posted on in Cycles News

Whatever your motivation - whether it's the climate emergency, losing weight, getting fitter or saving money - riding to work will help you achieve your goal and enjoy lots of other benefits. It doesn't matter if you've never ridden to work, if you've just got out of the habit over winter or if you ride every day come rain or shine, you're invited to take part in Ride to Work Week.

All you need to do is ride all or part of the way to work on one (or more!) days from 23-29 March. We're giving away a bike a day and we'll be drawing the winner from everyone who logs a ride to work on each day. To give yourself the best chance of winning some of the £6,000's worth of prizes up for grabs, plan to ride to work on as many days as you can.

As well as bikes, more bikes and a Ribble e-bike worth £1,800, we'll be giving away some great gear too. We've got two Beryl Laserlights we'll be giving away to early-bird registrants (just visit the site to register for the event before Monday 16 March) and three more we'll be giving away in social media promos (make sure you follow us so you don't miss out). We'll also be making a wave with some of Loffi's great gloves, designed to foster positive communication between road users.

To give yourself and your colleagues the best chance of winning, make sure you sign yourself and your workplace up for Ride to Work Week 2020! It only takes a minute at lovetoride.net

How Local Bike Shops can support Ride to Work Week

We love local bike shops. New riders need trusted local experts in order to become regular utility cyclists. That's why we try to link people up with their local shops and why we put lots of prize money into independent bike shops' tills. We're giving away £3,000 of local bike shop vouchers during Ride to Work Week (5x £600). To increase the likelihood of this money ending up at their business, please send the below out to all your local bike shop contacts:

We are working with Love to Ride to get more people on bikes. Local bike shops like yours are vital to help new riders access the equipment and expertise they need to ride regularly for transportation. During their first event of the year, Ride to Work Week, Love to Ride are giving away £3,000's worth of local bike shop vouchers. To increase the chances of this ending up in your till, please:

  • Sign up on the site and register your shop if you haven't already: lovetoride.net.
  • Let your customers know about Love to Ride: there are resources on the website to help you do this
  • Follow Love to Ride on social media (Twitter: @LovetoRide_, Facebook: lovetoride.net, Instagram: @lovetorideglobal) and use your channels to post about Ride to Work Week (if you tag them they will repost to amplify your audience)
  • Watch this video to see how Saddles & Paddles, a local bike shop in Exeter, have benefitted from working with Love to Ride since 2016
