Job Description

We are currently seeking applications for an experienced, enthusiastic and highly organised Store Manager to take full responsibility for the day to day management of our Glentress Alpine Bikes store based in the Tweed Valley.

Your primary responsibilities are to manage, develop and critically assess retail activities within the store whilst consistently promoting and delivering exceptional customer service standards. In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring that all possible avenues are explored to help drive the commercial success of the store in terms of sales and profitability. The Store Manager is directly responsible for the management of the Hire and Demo fleet of bikes.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will have full responsibility for ensuring all agreed promotional activities are planned, orchestrated and implemented within agreed time scales and thereafter objectively reviewed. A flexible and positive approach towards work is an essential part of this position, as is the ability to motivate and manage staff to ensure consistently high levels of customer engagement. A consummate communicator, you will be responsible for mentoring and supporting your staff helping to create a positive “can do” atmosphere within the store.

The Store Manager will be directly responsible for the operations of the business in Glentress and will be the champion of the company ethos. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the store and general facilities maintenance, this includes all aspects of Health and Safety.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Leading on the day-to-day operations of the Glentress store. Including the management of the Hire and Demo fleet bikes.
  • Ownership of the stores KPI’s and continuing to successfully grow the success of the store
  • Managing challenges as they arise on a day to day basis. 
  • Line managing the team members of the store
  • Assisting the General manager and heads of department in delivering exceptional standards
  • Responsible for opening/closing procedures and managing the store rota.
  • Managing health & safety compliance for the store.
  • Liaising with and organising servicing schedules with maintenance contractors
  • Dealing with customer complaints, should they arise

 

 

Skills/Experience Required

Key skills:

  • The ideal candidate will have a passion for Mountain biking and the desire to work in the cycling industry
  • A commitment to offer a high level of customer service.
  • The ability to motivate and engage team members; to identify individual’s skill sets and utilise them, for both personal and business development.
  • Outstanding organisation and planning skills and a good eye for detail. Identifying a potential problem and acting quickly to resolve it.
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to build strong relationships, internally and externally across all teams, strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • A hard working and adaptable manner, with a solid common-sense approach.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety procedures would be desirable.
  • Emergency first aid skills would be desirable.
  • A Cytech qualification would be an advantage but this is not essential.
  • Trail Leader qualification would be an advantage
  • Active approach to improve standards across the site.
