Brexit Analysis and Implications for Specialist Retailers

On 31 January 2020, the UK officially left the EU, however, the UK enjoyed a transition period through the rest of 2020 whereby as of 1 January 2021, the UK left the EU Single Market and Customs Union. As a result, the UK no longer benefits from frictionless free movement of goods. Manifestly, the intra-EU movement of goods between two member states, no longer applies for the UK. However, in an attempt to reduce the friction and facilitate the transfer of goods between them, the UK and the EU have agreed a Trade and Cooperation Agreement (TCA) which allows the movement of certain goods between them with zero traffic and zero quotas. Trade with Northern Ireland is governed by different rules contained in "Protocol on Ireland and Northern Ireland".

As your trade organisation we have consulted third parties to create a report on how the TCA affects the ecommerce and multi-channel retailers when importing goods between UK and EU countries.

Information on what the report contains is listed below, to download the full report scroll to the bottom of this page and login.
