Small Business Saturday back for fourth year

Small Business Saturday UK is the annual campaign to encourage shopping at small, independent firms.
Since 2013, Small Business Saturday has provided independent businesses with an extra way to take advantage of the holiday shopping season, taking place on the first Saturday (3rd) in December. Consumers see it as a way to support local businesses and give back to their own communities.
National campaign director Michelle Ovens said: ‘Small Business Saturday is not just a campaign to raise awareness of our diverse and innovative small business sector, but also a vehicle from which small firms that make use of the campaign can derive tangible benefit."
Last year, spending at small firms on the day rose 24 per cent to an estimated £623 million. Around three-quarters of local authorities backed the campaign.
Although the event is still a few weeks away, it's never too early for businesses to start their Small Business Saturday preparations. Visit www.smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com to find out more and download information packs and ideas for local marketing.
