Our contact details have changed

Posted on in Business News

From 1 July 2015, the regulator Ofcom is changing the way 0845 numbers are charged for. To ensure our subscribers retain a low-cost method of contacting us, our contact number is changing.

Currently, the telephone company selects its own level and structure of prices – per call, per minute, and varying depending whether they are included in call bundles for 08, 09 or 118 numbers. This has resulted in consumers feeling unsure about costs and businesses missing out on inbound calls as a result.

From 1st July a new system will be in place which will make the cost of calling service numbers clear for everyone.

0845 numbers will now carry an ‘access charge' and a ‘service charge'. As a result, we have changed our contact number to a local number, meaning the cost to call us is kept to a minimum. Please note, our new contact number is 01273 737 831.

You can also chat with us for free using Skype between 9am and 5pm on weekdays.

If your organisation uses a ‘non-geographic' service number for people to contact you - that's one beginning 08, 09 or 118 - you need to be aware of the changes and how they will affect you.

  • Speak to the company that provides your telephone number. Ask them to confirm the service charge for your number or numbers.
  • Decide if the service charge is suitable. If you are not happy with the service charge linked to the number or numbers you currently use, you may need to consider changing your telephone number(s).
  • Review all your materials and advertising. If your business uses a number beginning 084, 087, 09 or 118, you must ensure that your service charge is clearly displayed everywhere you advertise or promote that number in a format similar to the following "Calls cost xp [or xp per minute] plus your phone company's access charge."
