The Welsh Assembly Cross-Party Group on Small Shops, run by ACS, is hosting an exclusive reception to celebrate the contribution small shops make to the Welsh economy and the important role they play in their communities.

The reception on 1st July, held at The Pierhead Building in Cardiff, will be attended by small shop owners from across Wales, Welsh Assembly Members and representatives from ACS and the Independent Retail Confederation.

Edwina Hart AM, Minister for Economy, Science and Transport will be providing a keynote address at the Reception. Janet Finch Saunders, Welsh Assembly Member and Chair of the Cross-Party Group on Small Shops and ACS chief executive, James Lowman will also be speaking.

Janet Finch Saunders AM said: "The work of the Cross-Party Group on Small Shops and the Association of Convenience Stores has played an important role in encouraging the continued economic growth of this sector and the wider Welsh economy".

The event provides retailers with the opportunity to hear from the Welsh Government about the work they are doing to support small shops and also hear their vision for the future of small shops and high streets in Wales.

Ms Saunders AM continued: "I am proud to host this reception in my third year as Chair of the Assembly's Cross-Party Group on Small Shops. I am a strong supporter of small businesses and recognise the vital services and benefits they bring communities throughout Wales."
