Apprenticeships are changing - we need your feedback

The transition from the existing apprenticeship frameworks to new apprenticeship standards will happen between 2015 and 2018.
This means that as the new apprenticeship standards are produced, they will fully replace the existing apprenticeship frameworks.
People 1st are looking to design a future Retail Apprenticeship Standard. This apprenticeship standard will set the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for any retail apprentice (sales/shop floor), whether you work for a large multinational or a small independent business.
This ‘Apprenticeship Trailblazer' initiative is aiming to deliver:
- a fit for purpose apprenticeship standard that meets employer needs.
- short and easy to understand standards that are usable.
Two meetings have been held to date to begin designing that standard and this first consultation will give all employers the opportunity to feedback on the progress to date by asking you some key questions that will inform and influence the process.
ActSmart and other members of the Independent Retailers Confederation are inviting retail members to share their views in a bid to capture smaller independent business perspectives.
The first consultation includes five questions on the draft apprenticeship standards for retailers. The questions will take you approximately 20 minutes to complete
The Government's timescale for completing these apprenticeship standards is mid-June 2014 and it is important that the final result is a consensus of different types and sizes of organisations. Therefore, the apprenticeship standards must be written so that they can be applied to all business sizes - please consider this when you answer the questions in the consultation.
The first consultation only asks you about the apprenticeship standard. Once registered, you will be notified of a second consultation that will be available in May 2014, which will ask you to comment on the assessment approach. The development of detailed assessment for the new apprenticeships will start in late June 2014.
Read more about the apprenticeship standards before you take part in the consultation.
