The countdown to Independents' Day 2014

The countdown is now on to this year's Independents' Day - a national campaign that promotes and celebrates independent businesses across the UK.
Independents' Day is a national campaign which aims to give a voice to the UK's independent retailers. Organised by the National Skills Academy for Retail and now in its fourth year, the campaign was launched last Friday, 4th April, three months from 4th July the date that has been declared a nationwide day for the public to shop at independent retailers and celebrate diversity on the high street.
Independents' Day is a great opportunity to show the value of independent shops to the local community and encourage footfall to your shop on the day. In the run up to July 4th, all independent retailers are encouraged to download the campaign posters and all other supporting materials.
A number of trade associations including ActSmart, the ACT and the Independent Retailers Confederation have already pledged their support, along with national, local and trade press to make sure the campaign is a success.

Last year, thousands of businesses in over 200 locations across the UK got involved in Independents' Day, with celebrity support from the likes of Theo Paphitis and Government backing from Skills Minister, Matthew Hancock, Shadow Business Secretary, Chuka Umunna and Prime Minister, David Cameron.
