Association of Cycle Traders
The Association of Cycle Traders, best known as the ACT, is the largest cycling trade organisation in the UK and one of the most progressive trade associations in the outdoor, leisure and sports arenas.
The National Association of Cycle Traders Ltd (ACT)
is a non-profit making, UK membership organisation, which represents the interests of c.2500 specialist, independent cycle shops, hire centres, workshops and their supply partners.
Established early last century, ACT is committed to the support and longevity of speciality cycle retailing, delivering width of consumer choice, value and service.
ACT values people and builds custom
ACT recognise that people are at the heart of speciality retail and is committed to supporting the recruitment and development of people throughout the UK cycle trade.
ACT developed and owns Cytech, the bicycle industry's training and accreditation scheme for cycle mechanics and retail staff.
ACT invests in the creation of consumer focused initiatives, which promote and build custom for the specialist retail sector and their suppliers.
Ride it away cycle finance, the WorkRiders cycling to work programme, Experts gift cards, Fetch Recovery Centres, Bikesoup cycle marketplace, Cytech training and accreditation and thefast growing The Cycling Experts website are all examples of ACT's investment in building cycling and retail custom.
ACT dedicated to cycling and retail advocacy
ACT is a founder member of the UK Cycling Alliance a group of leading organisations committed to the development of cycling and cycling facilities. ACT is also represented on the Board of Bike Week, the largest annual celebration of cycling throughout the UK and is a regular contributor to the All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group.
Through ACT's partnership with ActSmart, the association is a very active participant in small business organisations, including the Independent Retailers Confederation and the Government's influential Retail Policy Forum, as well as contributing to the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group.
Who owns the ACT?
ACT is owned by it's membership, operating with a board of a minimum of four voluntary industry representatives. Click here to see the current Board of Directors.

ActSmart offers 4 levels of membership; Bronze membership is totally FREE; full ACT membership status and promotion is available to Gold and Platinum members who meet ACT criteria.
